Remembering God's faithfulness
The Initiation
After the salvation of Mr. A. Victor in Trichy, he moved to Madurai due to job transfer and became a member in Brethren Assembly. As days passed by, he understood that all these were part of God’s eternal plan. During his fellowship with Madurai Brethren Assembly, God enabled him to grow in the knowledge of the Scriptures under the guidance of M.E. Cherian and support the assembly in various ministries.
Later, due to God's plan and certain circumstances Mr. Victor along with few brothers in prayerful consideration and with the approval of the Brethren elder, M.E. Cherian moved out of Brethren Assembly.
New Beginning
The first church was started on December 15, 1974 with much prayers and commitment in Mehabupalayam, Madurai. Pastor. A. Victor and ten others were the first congregation in the new church.
Our First Location
The first congregation convened in the upper room of Brother Pepin’s residence, located on the Masudi Road in Mahabupalayam, Madurai. More people started to join the congregation by the grace of God.
Our Second Location
From 1975 to 1980, the church gathered at the "Women's Exchange," located opposite to Crime Branch in Madurai. During this period, Pastor A. Victor faithfully carried out God’s work in addition to his responsibilities in the railway service. The congregation met at this location for five years, until circumstances eventually forced them to vacate the premises.
Our Third Location
On 29th December 1980, as it was a need to have a place to conduct year-end service, they decided to conduct the service in the garden of Rev. Pastor A. Victor’s residence, with a temporary roof constructed for the occasion. For the next five years, we continued to worship God at that location.
OUR CHURCH BUILDING
As the congregation began to grow, we needed a new place to worship God. So, we prayed for the construction of a new building.
Own Land
God provided us our own land for the construction of our First Baptist Church
Work progress
Our own believers generously contributed to help build this church. Some dedicated their time and energy, while others gave offerings. Gradually, the church was built.
In December 1985, this church was inaugurated by Rev. James Garlow. Since then, we are serving the Lord in this building.
Inauguration
At present
We have branch churches at Madurai East, Aruppukottai, Tiruppur and Udumalapet
Until 2025, this church has raised 20 people as full-time workers who serve in different organizations
In the year 2010, First Baptist Mission (FBM) was started with a vision to serve the Ho tribal people in Odisha and Jharkhand
This church is supporting 40 missionaries working in FBM
